Rates and Commissions
How Much Do Background Actors Make?
Non-Union actors and AABP are paid $14.25 per hour unless stated otherwise.
*Background actors are paid for an 8-hour minimum, meaning that if you work less than 8 hours, you still get paid for the full 8 hours. Usually, the filming production will deduct 1 hour for your paid lunch.
ACTRA Union members are paid $29.75 per hour, unless stated otherwise.
Flat Rates
TV ad productions and commercials often offer a flat rate for actors and background talent.
For example, the production company will offer a flat $300.00 for a day of shooting. These rates will be different for each commercial and always be stated upfront.
The same rate will apply to both union and non-union members.
Ontario Talent Agency Commission
Our agency charges a standard 10% commission for regular background performances.
The production company will send your cheque to our office, where we will deduct our 10% commission, and forward the money to you.
We will send you an email transfer or a paper cheque, depending on your preferences.
